Hidden Hills is a live/work residency space located in West Asheville, offering artists time and space to focus, reset, and deepen their practice within the Blue Ridge Mountains. Designed for artists of all disciplines, the residency supports both the development of new work and the continuation of existing projects in a quiet, home-based environment.
The residency is located in a private upstairs unit featuring a full kitchen, living room workspace, balcony, hot tub, fire pit area, and large windows overlooking the surrounding landscape. The studio area is integrated into the living space and includes a desk and easel. Artists are expected to bring all materials needed for their practice, as only limited supplies will be available onsite.
Residency sessions range from one to four weeks. Hidden Hills welcomes artists working across disciplines, including visual arts, writing, research-based practices, and other creative fields. Because the residency functions as both a studio and living environment, we are unable to accommodate the use of toxic or excessively messy materials.
West Asheville is a walkable neighborhood known for its creative community, restaurants, music venues, and access to the outdoors. The surrounding region offers endless hiking trails, rivers, waterfalls, and mountain views, while Asheville itself has a long history connected to craft, experimentation, and the arts.
Applications are open to artists of all backgrounds and experience levels.

“I arrived at Hidden Hills feeling overwhelmed and disregulated, and almost immediately upon arrival I felt my heart and body become calmer. This allowed me to connect to my creative self again.
I felt nurtured and inspired by the warmth of the afternoon light filling the space, the amazing art throughout the home, and the quiet setting among the hills, tucked away in a peaceful setting without distractions.
Hidden Hills offered me the healing I was looking for, and I’m more confident in my artistic abilities after my time there.”
